(rated PG-13)
This is the cookie-cutter-style light-weight comedy of a two term, first ever, divorced President (Gene Hackman) who retires to Mooseport, a simpleton town reminiscent of something out of “The Andy Griffith Show.” He plans to play it low key in his summer home, the only thing that vixen ex wife (Christine Baranski) hasn’t confiscated. But when Handy Harrison (Ray Romano) the local plumber gets his lines of communication crossed, somehow the two men are vying for the office of town Mayor and the affections of Sally (Maura Tierney). A large ensemble cast is rounded out with a couple of White House aids (Fred Savage and Marcia Gay Harden) but none of these gifted actors use their full potential for this sweet little nothing of a film. What happened to Raymond? Everybody’s not gonna love him here.
