(reviewed by the Movie Knight) Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team are back once again, this time in their best outing ever. They may have stopped the Rogue Nation from their last adventure including capturing their leader, Solomon Lane), but members from the group are still out there and now they’ve got their hands on some plutonium thanks to a blunder by Hunt himself. The stakes have never been higher as the group must travel the globe to try to stop the largest terrorist plot imagined.

It may be hard to believe, but the Mission: Impossible franchise is over 22 years old. Tom Cruise was born the same year the first James Bond movie, Dr. Nocame out. Sean Connery played that role for a span of 21 years doing 7 films. There’s no telling if Cruise will continue making these movies or if someone else will take on the role, but if he stops now, he goes out on a high note.

It’s not easy to do well in the action/adventure genre. Audiences have practically “Seen it all” and to give them something new is a challenge. Thankfully, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie (who penned and directed Rogue Nation) and his stunt team were up to the task. The fight scenes, car chases and even a helicopter chase scene will leave audiences in awe.

There have been all types of offerings at the theater this summer. Some have surprised while others have fallen flat. Mission: Impossible- Fallout is the quintessential example of everything a summer movie aught to be. Fasten your seatbelt, though your popcorn bucket may make that difficult.
