You’re a sick-of-dating-losers-New-York-copy-editor whose brother is engaged, whose best friend (Jackie Hoffman) is pregnant and whose mother (Tovah Feldshuh) is on her case. As a single woman, sometimes it’s hard to think straight. Thus Jessica (Jennifer Westfeldt) is willing to try being a lesbian when she answers a personal ad. Helen Cooper (Heather Juergensen) is a gallery owner whose got everything Jessica doesn’t. A certain je ne sais quoi style with experiment written all over her. And, she’s tired of dating married men. The two click in a way that proves sex and love have nothing to do with a certain once-required male organ. Gay lovers can be fun, virgin-territory and sex can be sexy with a man or a woman. Smart, funny and well acted, as we genuinely stumble through the newness of an awkward relationship with earnest. Westfeldt is absolutely adorable and contagious as Jessica. This little movie is a gem worth kissing all over.
