What a totally depressing dud….why not cut to the chase that takes two hours and four minutes to tell you what you’ll learn anyway.  An emotionless ride of total propaganda circa 2154 – or whenever the film takes place – about a man named Max (Matt Damon) who is told as a small boy that Elysium – some elitist planet – is not for him.

He’s a poor kid who grows up to be a blue collar worker saving up to buy his ticket to this Club Med destiny.  But when catastrophic radiation poisons his organs, he’s got five days to get to Elysium or he’ll die.  Thus, the film is all about the journey not the destiny so it’s a bummer we never see him actually interact with any of the five star hotel guests.

In Elysium the world is ruled by Jodie Foster with a bad South African accent and a bland performance leaving us feeling no reaction to any of the movie’s plotline. In the end it feels like Mad Max meets Obama care in 2154. ♛ 1/2
