(rated PG 13)
In her first role since best supporting actress in “L.A. Confidential,” Kim Basinger portrays the real-life American memoirist Kuki Gallmann, in a story “in to Africa”. Similar to the role of Sigourney Weaver in “Gorilla’s In The Mist” this story touches on a woman bored with her way of life in Italy, instead opting for ‘talking to the animals”, heading to untamed Kenya, with her son Emanuele and her husband Paolo. Of course she soon discovers it’s far from a fairytale lifestyle involving poachers, storms, wild herds, tragic deaths, you name it. Basinger is breathtaking in a role that makes her glow on screen. Maybe it’s the Banana Republic white pressed shirts and khakis. She always manages to look stunning under the most devastating of experiences.
