Tully Coates (Anson Mount) explores a legacy of love between his father (Bob Burns), brother (Glenn Fitzgerald) and the events that occur one summer to change his world forever. Ella (Julianne Nicholson) arrives home from college as the girl next door, who knows better than to accept overtures from Tully, the town’s womanizer. But, when Tully’s younger brother comes to grips with some information, it is Tully who must help his brother and father save their lives and save the farm. In addition, he discovers that women, like Ella, should be respected as much-needed friends, first. The movie proves that weird things happen out in the middle of nowhere with legal naivetes, following in the footsteps of other Midwest plots like “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Straight Story.” Nicholson’s performance is sweet but strong. A real-life-feeling story with ghosts long buried in the closet,Tully won many critic awards at film festivals including Best Film award at Los Angeles Film Festival
