The plot comes at a tough time when America is faced with multiple child abductions. In “Trapped” they nab the kid and then separate the parents (Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend) so that this added anxiety will create havoc and big ransom. And if that isn’t enough, they add asthma to the child’s character for more tension to the already tense plot. Kevin Bacon and Courtney Love are well cast as the devious stalkers known for their own history of devious roles (last year’s “Hollow Man” and Love in “People Vs. Larry Flynt” a few years back). Theron takes on a role of substance that will be cheered as the mom going the distance for her child. All four actors show their incredible skills in an uphill battle for such an unfathomable plot. Director Luis Mandoki proves he too can be all-over-the-place in genre, having a history of the tender “Message In A Bottle” to last year’s “Angel Eyes” to this.
