Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton play a happily married couple who have it all; a high society lifestyle in Manhattan , two kids, high profile careers, and a home in the Hamptons. Their best friends Gary Shadling and Goldie Hawn have it all too. Until one day, they want more. Suddenly mid-life crisis strikes and Range Rovers and Botox injections aren’t enough. Instead, the question becomes how much of my social status do I risk for all the sexual energy (Andie MacDowell, Jenna Elfman and Nastassia Kinski) surrounding! Keeping up with the Jones’s is not as much the issue as keeping quiet from them, yet at the same time embracing who you are with age even if it means forfeiting the farm for the game of passion. Charlton Heston as MacDowell’s rich southern trigger-happy daddy, is a hoot (packing a rifle as he does for the real life NRA), but even funnier is the butler resembling the dog portrait. “First Wives Club” worked because the women get even. “Town and Country” won’t because the targeted audience of 40 and over will not want to see how wives should accept their husband’s philandering, without some of their own.
