A quirky, sweet movie that surprisingly succeeds, about a Navy Seal, Lieutenant Wolf (Vin Diesel) who’s sent on a mission of a lifetime – to watch the Plummer children, because Mrs. Plummer (Faith Ford) lost her husband in a military operation, gone wrong. Television stars Lauren “Gilmore Girls” Graham plays the school principal with Brad “Raymond’s” Garrett as the annoying, loser, Vice Principal. It takes about ten minutes to understand the plot, before the movie comfortably slides into a rhythm, where each character remains true to his personality, enhancing Vin Diesel’s versatility as an actor from his usual action to this Disney comedy. Vin Diesel shows his ability to follow in a long line of successful odd-ball-dad-movies with heavy hitters – Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams and Steve Martin. Feeling like a smarter “Kindergarten Cop” this movie is softer, and offers plot points on every subject from dirty diapers to driver’s education. Moms will love that the story shows it takes a Navy Seal to try and keep up with running a family of five household.
