Hot off the summer’s “Dinosaurs” this one is set in a mythical mountain kingdom, following the misadventures of an arrogant, egocentric young emperor named Kuzco (David Spade) who is transformed into a llama by his power-hungry advisor – the devious diva Yzma (Eartha Kitt). Yes, Eartha Kitt, and she’s fabulous as an animated character! Stranded in a jungle, Kuzco’s only chance to get back home and reclaim the high life, his “groove”, rests with a good-hearted peasant named Pacha (John Goodman). Kuzco’s “perfect world” becomes a perfect mess as this most unlikely duo must deal with hair-raising danger, wild comic predicaments and more horrifying – each other! Disney takes a break from its usual musical cartoons for a story along the lines of “Road To El Dorado” with an added history lesson on Peru. Minus epic feel, it plays out instead like classic fairy tale. Although a great soundtrack accompanies the movie, it’s not Elton John or Phil Collins. This time, it’s Sting.
