(Rated R) Jennifer Lopez plays a psychic social worker (with strategic Playbunny poses and lots of cleavage) who gets the mother of all assignments. Go into the mind of a serial killer to find out where he is stashing his latest, soon to be dead victim. How she does this is through a breakthrough research facility possessing a neurological transfer system allowing the therapist (dressed in a Godiva chocolate looking space suit), to lay side to side with the killer and through some shock wave/serum, go into his mind. This “Silence Of The Lambs” rip off however, lacks the class that Anthony Hopkins delivered as Hannibal Lechter with Jodie Foster. Instead, this one comes off distasteful, vulgar and plain gross. While you want to enjoy the story you spend more time saying “what is this?” Lopez parades around in these MTV dream sequences dressed in outfits not to far fetched from that skimpy scarf she wore to lover boy Puff Daddy’s Grammy acceptance speech. The scenes are not consistent, neither is her acting, but FBI Agent Peter, (Vince Vaughn), is to be noticed for his very convincing underdog yet heroic performance. And, he’s cute. Vincent D’Onofrio does a over the top frightening performance as the killer Carl and Jake Weber should be noted as a newcomer who pulls off the sidekick FBI detective.
