Those brothers Farrelly are at it again. And even though “Stuck On You” is no “Kingpin”, and only a bit funnier than “Shallow Hal”, it is probably the movie that most mimics the Farrelly’s themselves — inseparable on a set. Bob and Walt Tenor (Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear) are Siamese twins who grow up on Martha’s Vineyard flipping burgers. Then one day Kinnear decides to take the gamble, move to L.A. and pursue acting, which means Damon must follow. The two conjoined brothers take up residence in a cheap hotel where they meet wanna-be actress neighbor April (an underused Eva Mendes) and come across what they believe to be a stroke a luck in Cher (playing herself with a good-sport sense of humor.) Meryl Steep is an even better sport in her cameo. The insider tinsel town jokes are a hoot and surely super agent CAA’s Richard Lovett appreciates it. As always, Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s films have cheery energy to match a fun soundtrack, some handicapped cast and the usual everybody-they-ever-went-to-school-with, as extras. They also have a knack for sentimental stuff, never swear and consistently have side-splitting-laugh-out-loud moments – the best here being the silly porn movie scene for Kinnear’s character. But unlike “Dumb and Dumber” their best buddy film, this story about brothers who couldn’t do it without each other, truly tells us a thing or two about our directors.
