Sherrybaby – Entering a halfway house, Sherry Swanson (Maggie Gyllenhaal) has just completed three years in prison. With  over-processed hair, chain smoking cigarettes and attitude, Swanson is determined to get back the daughter she lost, now being raised by her brother and his wife.  And so the story goes – urine tests at the Parol Officer’s, sexual favors to land jobs – whatever it takes to beat the system that won’t allow her back in. This is a small gem of a film written and directed by Laurie Collyer about a woman trying to re-integrate with society, while pulling at the parental heartstring.  The unspoken tension and torn emotions of what’s right versus what’s best for the child, will have you completely consumed in the Gyllenhaal’s Oscar worthy performance.  Three tiaras
