What were the minds of “In Living Color” and “Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In the Hood” thinking when they developed this horror spoof of ensemble parodies about “Scream”? I guess how to continue making a good buck. Actually, a fusion of two horror scripts, “Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween” and “Last Summer I Screamed Because Friday the 13th Fell On Halloween”, I guess they figured they’d kill two birds with one stone (or one large paycheck from Miramax.) Covering every cliché audiences learned to associate with and getting old rather quickly, the story stars Shannon Elizabeth, Regina Hall, Carmen Electra (stripped down to panties as a joke on Drew Barrymore), and Kimberly Jones with Shawn and Marlon Wayans as the two (look a little too old for high school) stoned heads. The story moves fast with many laughs, but after awhile we’ve “gotten it already.” In addition they stop at nothing (trying to up the anti in a cross between “Airplane” and Farrelly brother movies) like a “prosthetic penis” example. It doesn’t need much plot (who cares) and teens will love it as a great alternative to the beach this summer. Sort of a pop culture teen flick!
