What’ll Eddie Murphy think of next? In this comedy re-tread, (this time) gone to outer space, Pluto Nash (Murphy) is a moon-based nightclub owner (yes, really) fighting off a hostile Mob takeover. This dark side of the moon is set in the year 2080. John Cleese is well cast as Murphy’s computerized chauffeur, Randy Quaid as an outdated robot, Rosario Dawson as a earthling singer, Pam Grier, as his pistol packin’ mamma and Peter Boyle as mamma’s ex-boyfriend. But it’s the cameo of an ex President’s wife that steals the show. Delayed several times for release, this anemic “48 Hours” meets “The Jetsons” just didn’t fly me to the moon.
