A phone call may be able to change your life, but for one man (Colin Farrell), it may also end it. Set entirely to the confines of a New York City phone booth, the story follows a guy who’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t answer/hang up the phone. Enter Captain Ramey (Forest Whitaker) trying to talk Farrell through the situation that escalates then turns, to make Farrell appear to be the sniper. While reminiscent of “Dog Day Afternoon” and a great creepy-voiced, wacko (Keifer Sutherland) on the other end of the line may make you squirm in your seat, but after last year’s real life sniper stuff, do we really need this movie now? Farrell is supercharged, hyped and hot. And, Schumacher has had this experience before with Michael Douglas’s “Falling Down” and succeeded within the constraints of a thriller, if that’s what you’re up for.
