A young American Bride (Angelina Jolie) travels with her new, sexy, wealthy husband (Antonio Banderas) to Cuba to find out that marital fidelity is the last thing on her mind. The closer he becomes to her, the more enigmatic she seems to be eventually leading to a dangerous dance that takes them across the landscape of Cuba into obsession and eroticism. The dark looming almost pornographic feel heightens the atmosphere of Havana’s sad heaven. Actors Thomas Jane and Jack Thompson are excellent as added diversions, but it is Jolie hot-off ‘Tomb Raider” that will draw attention to this film, whose release date was postponed over and over. A little drawn out and slow this love story’s ending may disappoint in taking what should have remained dark and suddenly comes to light.
