A surprise hit (think “Full Monty”) that’s catching on, about a homely Greek girl (Nia Vardolos) trapped in an old-fashioned Greek family. Even in grammar school blonde girls ate Wonder bread sandwiches while she ate Mousaka (‘moose kaka’). All grown up and desperate for a new look, new job and new life, she meets the WASP man of her dreams (John Corbett “Sex and the City”). Now the traditional boundaries are about to break bringing the clash in colorful, energized cultures and feel good laughs to life, due to overly dramatic performances by the family who remain in character. The father, Gus (Michael Constantine) should be especially commended for his steadfast strict humor and determination.
