I can’t recall the last time Kevin Costner was a bad guy and I’m not sure I should.  Maybe he’s trying to change his image – get more movie roles – but he has no business doing this one. Mr. Brooks (Kevin Costner) hears a voice over his shoulder (William Hurt) reminding him why he likes to kill people. By day, Mr. Brooks is a Man of The Year – business person, philanthropist, father of a beautiful daughter and husband of a lovely wife.  But by night, he’s the thumb print serial killer. Enter Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) hot on the trail of the murderer and going through a divorce from a husband (Jason Lewis) she’d like to murder herself. Enter Mr. Smith (Dane Cook) a voyeuristic neighbor who catches Mr. Brooks killing a young couple and now has his own agenda.  The movie fails on so many levels – disjointed, confusing, and loose ends that don’t move the plot forward or lead us to a logical conclusion. We never know why he kills or what his history is? We never make sense of the surprises that the story casts upon us either.  The biggest issue is while Costner is deadpan cool and looks good in his horn-rimmed glasses, we just don’t buy “Bull Durham” as a serial killer.  ONE TIARA
