A tomboy FBI agent (Sandra Bullock) looking dumpy and wall-flowerish must go undercover in the Miss New Jersey beauty pageant to prevent a group from bombing the event. Featured player include Michael Caine as Vic, a consultant who helps her prepare for the pageant (think the hotel concierge in “Pretty Woman”). William Shatner is the pageant host and Candice Bergman does a phenomenal job as the pageant coordinator with all the angst of a real woman who would take these pageants way too seriously. The transformation is pure heaven as Bullock becomes the beauty queen, coming off the unforgivable “Forces Of Nature”. Much like a “Pretty Woman” for 2000 with a lot of laughs and a feel good feeling a la Lucille Ball. Last time she tried this silly humor was “Gun Shy” but this time, it works.
