Name the phobia and Roy (Nicolas Cage) has it. This OCDed-out tick-twitching wreck, partners with Frank (Sam Rockwell) as swindling con men who pull off heists in 21st century (“The Sting”) style. One afternoon Roy manages to lose his medication while at the same time finding a daughter, Angela (Alison Lohman) that he never knew he fathered. Without giving too much away it turns a little bit “Paper Moon” as Angela wants to join dad in learning the tricks of the trade. The movie’s jazzy feel adds to this already way too smart caper. Director Ridley Scott’s done good post “Black Hawk Down” with this stylish story that reminds us why Cage has won an Oscar and Rockwell is the new ‘it’ man after last year’s brilliant “Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind”. But it’s Lohman, the 24 year old actress that proves she can play a sassy 14 year old, that steals the show.
