(NR, 110 mins.)
“Mouse” (Mischa Barton) has just arrived at Perkins Girl’s College, as a way for daddy’s new wife to be rid of her. Instantly she is adopted by her two senior sisters and boarders, sharp-tongued Paulie (Piper Perabo) and Tory (Jessica Pare). Like little lost girls of Peter’s Pans little lost boys, the three share a bond of secrets and stories (one’s mother died, another abandoned her and another is living up to mom’s expectations). Through a gardener and a trained falcon, each finds a past healing remedy. A brave role for Perabo who dyes her blonde roots short sassy brunette and takes on the rebel role after the innocent in “Coyote Ugly”. A different twist than the usual teen girly coming of age story, with a touch of “Dead Poet’s Society.”
