They’re back, and the question is why? But the answer is why not? Like all 70’s television shows that must become movies, so this one joins the pack yet manages to inject energy and spirit unlike its former “Flintstones” or “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle”. Grooving and moving and based on the original popular Archie comic books series, that aired for a short run, but barely as likeable as my favored Scooby Doo. This live-action remake stars Rachael Leigh Cook (“Get Carter”) as the lead, with Tara Reid as Melody and Rosario Dawson as Val, about three small-town girl musicians determined to take their rock band out of their garage and straight to the top. They remain true to their own look, style and sound when discovered by Wyatt Frame (Alan Cummings) and Mega Records Fiona (Parker Posey). Similar to those hip cheerleading movies saturated with teeny-bopper music and pop culture, the storyline may be light but never the less, will have your adolescent girls (and boys) running to the theatre and pumped all the way home.
